Browser Extension Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
Overview
The ResumeQuick browser extension analyzes a job posting you are viewing against your ResumeQuick profile and shows a match score, strengths, gaps, and a tailored cover letter. This policy explains exactly what data the extension touches and where it goes. It complements the main ResumeQuick Privacy Policy.
What the extension accesses
The extension reads the text of the job posting on your active tab only when you click Analyze, or when you paste a description yourself. It runs on LinkedIn job pages. It does not read your browsing history, your other tabs, your passwords, or any page you do not explicitly analyze.
Your API key is stored locally
To connect to your account you paste a personal API key created in your ResumeQuick profile. The key is stored only in your browser's local extension storage, on your device. It is sent to ResumeQuick solely as an authorization header to authenticate your requests, it is never shown again after you save it, and it is never sent anywhere else. Removing the extension deletes the locally stored key.
What is sent for analysis
When you run an analysis, the job description and your chosen analysis language are sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to the ResumeQuick API. There it is compared against your existing profile and resume using automated AI processing to generate your result. The analysis is saved to your account, the same as analyses you run on the ResumeQuick website.
Permissions we request
We request only the permissions the extension needs: access to the active tab and to LinkedIn job pages (to read the posting you choose to analyze), access to the ResumeQuick API (to send the analysis request), storage (to keep your API key and settings on your device), and alarms (to reliably finish an analysis that is already in progress). We do not request access to all of your websites.
Usage analytics
The extension sends anonymous, aggregate usage events — for example, that an analysis was started, completed, or failed, or that a link was clicked — to our analytics provider so we can understand activation and reliability. These events are linked to your account, but we never send the content of a job description, your resume, or your API key as an analytics property.
Third parties
Beyond the ResumeQuick API, your data is processed by the AI provider that powers the analysis and by our product-analytics provider (PostHog). We do not sell your data and we do not share it with advertisers.
Data retention
Your API key stays in local browser storage until you revoke it in your profile or uninstall the extension. Analyses you generate are kept with your ResumeQuick account and follow the retention and deletion controls described in the main Privacy Policy.
Your rights
You can access, export, or delete your personal data through your ResumeQuick account, and you can revoke the extension's API key at any time, which immediately stops it from working until you add a new one. If you are in the EEA, you have additional rights under the GDPR.
What we do not do
We do not sell your data. We do not use the extension to track your general web browsing. We do not collect data from pages you have not chosen to analyze.
