Browser Extension Privacy Policy

Overview
The ResumeQuick browser extension does two things. It analyzes a job posting against your ResumeQuick profile and shows a match score, strengths, gaps and a tailored cover letter. And it helps you fill in job application forms with details from your ResumeQuick account, which you review before you send the application yourself. This policy explains exactly what data the extension touches and where it goes. It complements the main ResumeQuick Privacy Policy.
What the extension reads
On LinkedIn job pages and on the application pages of Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable, SmartRecruiters and Teamtailor, the extension checks inside your browser whether the page holds a job posting or an application form, so the panel can offer the right action. Nothing from the page leaves your browser until you open the ResumeQuick panel. On other websites it reads a page only when you open the panel on it, and it can read an application form there only after you press "Check for an application form" and allow access to that one site in your browser's prompt. It does not read your browsing history, your other tabs or your passwords.
What is stored on your device
To connect to your account you paste a personal API key created in your ResumeQuick profile. The key is stored only in your browser's local extension storage and is sent solely to ResumeQuick, as an authorization header. To fill forms, the extension also keeps a copy of your application details there: your name, headline, contact details and profile links, location and time zone, salary expectations, availability, notice period and work authorization, and which resume to attach. The copy is refreshed from your account after 10 minutes or when you refresh it in the panel, and it is deleted when you save a different key. While your browser is open, the extension also remembers the job you last looked at, so the panel can pick up where you left off. Removing the extension deletes everything it stored.
What is sent when you analyze a job
When the panel recognizes a job posting, its web address is sent to ResumeQuick to check whether you have already analyzed it, so the same posting is never charged twice. When you click Analyze, the text of the posting and its web address are sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to the ResumeQuick API, where they are compared against your profile and resume using automated AI processing. A cover letter is written the same way when you ask for one. Analyses are saved to your account, the same as analyses you run on the ResumeQuick website.
What happens when you fill an application form
When you press "Fill application", the extension fills the fields it recognizes from the copy of your details on your device and attaches your resume as a PDF downloaded from your account. The values it enters are not sent to ResumeQuick. For fields it cannot recognize, it sends only their labels and answer options, never anything typed into them, and ResumeQuick replies with which of your details the field is asking for. These label matches contain no personal data and are reused for every user. If you ask for draft answers to a form's open questions, the questions are sent together with your analysis of that job, and the drafts are shown to you to read and edit: nothing goes into the form until you press "Insert into form" for that answer. If you choose to save an answer, the question and your answer are saved to your account, where you can edit or delete them. Pressing "Mark as applied" updates the status of that job in your ResumeQuick tracker. The extension skips questions about gender, ethnicity, disability, veteran status and similar topics: they are not sent and not filled. It never submits an application for you. You review the form and send it yourself, and what you send is then handled by the employer under their own privacy policy.
Permissions we request
The extension requests: access to the active tab and the ability to run its page reader and form scanner there (to read the posting or form you chose), the side panel (to show the extension), storage (for your API key, settings and the copy of your details), alarms (to reliably finish an analysis that is already in progress), access to the ResumeQuick API, and access to LinkedIn job pages and the application pages of Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable, SmartRecruiters and Teamtailor. Access to any other website is optional: your browser asks you for it one site at a time, only when you press "Check for an application form" there, and you can withdraw it at any time in your browser's extension settings.
Usage analytics
The extension sends usage events to our analytics provider so we can understand activation and reliability: for example, that an analysis was started, completed or failed, that a form was filled and how many of its fields were recognized, or that a link was clicked. These events are linked to your account. They never contain the text of a job posting, your resume, anything entered into a form, or your API key. The one piece of page content they carry is the list of field labels the extension could not recognize on a form, such as "notice period", which shows us which fields to learn next. In Firefox you can switch usage data off when you install the extension, or later in the extension's permissions under Add-ons and themes.
Third parties
Beyond the ResumeQuick API, your data is processed by the AI provider that powers analyses, cover letters and draft answers, and by our product-analytics provider (PostHog). We do not sell your data and we do not share it with advertisers.
Data retention
Your API key and the copy of your details stay in local browser storage until you save a different key or remove the extension. Analyses, cover letters and saved answers are kept with your ResumeQuick account and follow the retention and deletion controls described in the main Privacy Policy. Field-label matches are kept to help every user and hold no personal data.
Your rights
You can access, export, or delete your personal data, including your saved answers, through your ResumeQuick account, and you can revoke the extension's API key at any time, which immediately stops it from working until you add a new one. If you are in the EEA, you have additional rights under the GDPR.
What we do not do
We do not sell your data. We do not use the extension to track your general web browsing. We do not collect anything from pages you have not opened the panel on. We never submit an application on your behalf.
