What you can ask Claude
Once connected, Claude can see and update the data that actually matters for your job search — your resumes, vacancies, and interview history.
“Roast my resume — what would a senior recruiter cut?”
Claude pulls your latest resume, reviews structure, phrasing, and experience density. You get critique grounded in your actual content — not template tips.
“Why didn't I match this vacancy?”
Claude reads your most recent vacancy analyses and explains the gap in plain language. Useful when the match score wasn't obvious.
“Quiz me on my last interview's weak spots.”
Claude reviews your interview score and feedback, then drills you on the topics where you scored lowest. Targeted practice, not a generic question list.
“What changed in my profile in the last 30 days?”
Claude pulls a chronological feed of resume edits, new vacancy analyses, and completed interviews. Great for week-in-review reflection.
3 steps to connect
From signup to first Claude prompt in under two minutes.
- 01
Create your API key
Sign in to ResumeQuick, open Settings → Extension & Claude, click "Create key", give it a name (e.g. "Claude Desktop on laptop"). Copy the rq_live_… token — it's shown once.
Open ResumeQuick - 02
Paste the snippet into your client
Pick your client below and copy its config: a terminal command for Claude Code, a config file for Claude Desktop and Codex. Cursor and other MCP clients take the same URL and the same key.
claude mcp add --transport http resumequick https://mcp.resumequick.app/mcp \ --header "Authorization: Bearer rq_live_..."Run this command in your terminal (Claude Code CLI ≥ 1.0).
- 03
Restart your client and ask away
Restart Claude Desktop (or reload your client). Open a new chat and ask anything that needs your real career data — Claude will reach for the right data on its own.
Try one of these prompts:
“Look at my profile in ResumeQuick. Based on my last vacancy analysis, what 3 skills should I learn to land roles like that?”
“Roast my latest resume — what would a senior recruiter cut, and why?”
“Quiz me on the topics where I scored lowest in my last mock interview.”
“What changed in my profile in the last 30 days, and what's an honest assessment of my progress?”
Troubleshooting
The five things that actually go wrong, and what fixes them.
The key was revoked, or it was pasted with a trailing space or line break. Live keys start with rq_live_. Open Settings → Extension & Claude, create a new one and paste the whole value after "Bearer ". A key is shown once, at creation — there is no way to read it again later.
Use https://mcp.resumequick.app/mcp — both /mcp and /mcp/ are served directly, with no redirect. If the handshake succeeded and the list is still empty, restart the client: most MCP clients read the tool list once, at startup.
Every tool is scoped to the account that owns the key. An id belonging to another account returns not_found rather than a permission error — we never confirm that someone else's record exists. Check that the key came from the same account you have open in the browser.
Tools that generate something — resume rewrites, vacancy analyses, radar scans — draw on your plan's quota, the same counters the web app uses. Reading your own data costs nothing and is never limited.
Five active keys per account is the maximum. Revoke one you no longer use — the slot frees up immediately, and the revoked key stops working within seconds.
FAQ
Privacy, cost, and how the connection works.
Only what's in your ResumeQuick account: your resumes and their history, vacancy analyses, the jobs the automated search found, interview results, offers, your career notes and reminders, and an activity feed. Your password and account settings are never exposed.
Yes. Authentication uses a personal API key (Bearer token over HTTPS) tied only to your account. Keys are revocable from your profile at any time and never accepted via query string or cookie.
The MCP server is included for ResumeQuick users on any plan. Your Claude Desktop / Claude Code / Codex subscription is separate — that's billed by Anthropic / OpenAI directly.
Claude can edit and tailor your resumes, create versions, analyze vacancies, run and steer the automated job search, and set reminders. Deleting anything takes two steps: it has to be archived first. It can't send messages or emails to anyone, and it can't touch your password or account settings. Most MCP clients, including Claude Desktop and Claude Code, show each action and ask you to approve it before it runs.
Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Cursor — and any other AI client that supports MCP. Each client has its own config format; the URL and the key are the same everywhere.
Immediately. Within seconds, any client using that key gets a 401 response. Create a new key from your profile and update your client config — the old one is permanently dead.
