Codex × ResumeQuick
Connect Codex to your job search
Add ResumeQuick to Codex and ask about your real resumes, tracked jobs and job radar matches from the CLI, the IDE extension or the desktop app. They all share one config.
Two commands to connect
You sign in on the ResumeQuick site and press Allow. No keys to copy.
- 01
Add the server
Run this in your terminal. It writes the server into ~/.codex/config.toml, which the Codex CLI, the IDE extension and the desktop app all read.
codex mcp add resumequick --url https://mcp.resumequick.app/mcp - 02
Sign in
Your browser opens the ResumeQuick page. Sign in, or create a free account on the spot, and press Allow. Codex stores the sign-in and renews it on its own.
codex mcp login resumequick - 03
Ask
Start Codex and ask anything that needs your job-search data, for example: "Read my ResumeQuick resume and tell me the one thing to fix before I apply to this posting."
No browser on this machine? Use an API key
On a server or in CI, create a personal API key in Settings → Extension & Claude, put it in an environment variable and point Codex at the variable. Codex sends it as a Bearer token.
export RESUMEQUICK_API_KEY=rq_live_...
codex mcp add resumequick --url https://mcp.resumequick.app/mcp \
--bearer-token-env-var RESUMEQUICK_API_KEYGood to know about Codex
- The config can also be written by hand in ~/.codex/config.toml (or .codex/config.toml in a project): [mcp_servers.resumequick] with url = "https://mcp.resumequick.app/mcp".
- Tools that change your data are marked as writes. With approval_mode = "writes" Codex asks before those and runs read-only ones straight away.
- Generating tools (a resume rewrite, a job analysis) can take a while. If a call times out, raise tool_timeout_sec for the server; the default is 60 seconds.
- Remove a server with codex mcp logout resumequick first, then codex mcp remove resumequick: remove alone keeps the stored sign-in.
Steps follow Codex's own documentation as of October 2026: Codex MCP docs, Codex commands.
Troubleshooting
Check that the server URL is exactly https://mcp.resumequick.app/mcp and run codex mcp login resumequick again. On Linux or Windows, if the sign-in hangs or is forgotten after a restart, set mcp_oauth_credentials_store = "file" in config.toml.
Run codex mcp list to see whether the server is enabled and signed in. If the sign-in was revoked under Connected apps in ResumeQuick, run codex mcp login resumequick again.
Tools that generate something use your plan limits, the same counters the web app uses. Reading your own data is never limited.
Open Settings → Extension & Claude in ResumeQuick and press Disconnect next to Codex under Connected apps, or run codex mcp logout resumequick.
