Cursor × ResumeQuick
Connect Cursor to your job search
Add ResumeQuick to Cursor and ask the agent about your real resumes, tracked jobs and job radar matches without leaving the editor.
One config entry, then sign in
Cursor signs in with ResumeQuick through the browser. The CLIENT_ID line tells it who it is.
- 01
Add the server to mcp.json
Put this in ~/.cursor/mcp.json to use it in every project, or in .cursor/mcp.json inside one project. Keep the auth block: without it Cursor cannot sign in to ResumeQuick.
{ "mcpServers": { "resumequick": { "url": "https://mcp.resumequick.app/mcp", "auth": { "CLIENT_ID": "cursor" } } } } - 02
Sign in and allow access
Open the MCP section of Cursor settings and press the sign-in button next to resumequick. A ResumeQuick page opens: sign in, or create a free account on the spot, and press Allow.
- 03
Ask
In the agent chat, ask anything that needs your job-search data, for example: "Read my ResumeQuick resume and suggest three stronger bullet points for my last job."
Good to know about Cursor
- An API key in "headers" does not work in Cursor today: when a server supports sign-in, Cursor starts the sign-in and ignores the header. Use the auth block above.
- Cursor asks before running an MCP tool unless you allow it to run automatically.
- ResumeQuick has dozens of tools. If you only need a few, switch the rest off in the server's tool list in Cursor settings.
- The same sign-in works for Cursor's web and cloud agents.
Steps follow Cursor's own documentation as of October 2026: Cursor MCP docs, Cursor forum: OAuth client registration.
Troubleshooting
Check that the auth block with "CLIENT_ID": "cursor" is in the entry and the URL is exactly https://mcp.resumequick.app/mcp. Then run "Cursor: Clear All MCP Tokens" from the command palette and sign in again.
Restart Cursor and press it again. If it still does nothing, remove the server from mcp.json, save, add it back and save again.
Tools that generate something use your plan limits, the same counters the web app uses. Reading your own data is never limited.
Open Settings → Extension & Claude in ResumeQuick and press Disconnect next to Cursor under Connected apps, or remove the entry from mcp.json.
