OpenCode × ResumeQuick
Connect OpenCode to your job search
Add ResumeQuick to OpenCode and ask about your real resumes, tracked jobs and job radar matches right from the terminal.
Connect with an API key
OpenCode connects to ResumeQuick with a personal API key, kept in an environment variable.
- 01
Create an API key
Sign in to ResumeQuick, open Settings → Extension & Claude and create a key, e.g. "OpenCode on laptop". Copy the rq_live_… value: it is shown once.
- 02
Put the key in an environment variable
Add it to your shell profile so OpenCode can read it. The config below refers to the variable, never to the key itself.
export RESUMEQUICK_API_KEY=rq_live_... - 03
Add the server to opencode.json
Use ~/.config/opencode/opencode.json for every project, or opencode.json in a project root for one project. Sign-in through the browser is turned off and the key goes in the Authorization header. The longer timeout leaves room for tools that generate something.
{ "$schema": "https://opencode.ai/config.json", "mcp": { "resumequick": { "type": "remote", "url": "https://mcp.resumequick.app/mcp", "oauth": false, "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer {env:RESUMEQUICK_API_KEY}" }, "timeout": 30000 } } } - 04
Ask
Start OpenCode and ask anything that needs your job-search data. The tools show up as resumequick_… and follow your usual OpenCode permission settings.
Good to know about OpenCode
- OpenCode waits 5 seconds for a server by default; "timeout": 30000 gives generating tools enough time.
- Every tool description takes context. If you only need a few, turn the rest off in the tools section of opencode.json with a pattern such as "resumequick_*".
- Keep "oauth": false: without it OpenCode tries to sign in through the browser first, and that path does not work with ResumeQuick yet.
- The key gives full access to your account through these tools. Revoke it in Settings → Extension & Claude whenever you stop using it.
Steps follow OpenCode's own documentation as of October 2026: OpenCode MCP servers, OpenCode config.
Troubleshooting
The server entry is missing "oauth": false. Add it next to "headers" and restart OpenCode.
The key was revoked or the variable is empty in the shell OpenCode runs from. Check with echo $RESUMEQUICK_API_KEY; a live key starts with rq_live_. Create a new one in Settings → Extension & Claude if needed.
Raise "timeout" for the server; the value is in milliseconds. Resume rewrites and job analyses run for a while.
Tools that generate something use your plan limits, the same counters the web app uses. Reading your own data is never limited.
